Sabine Wittig – State certified food chemist

Sabine Wittig is a state-certified food chemist with a diploma. She has been working at RDA since mid-2020. Previously, she was a safety assessor of cosmetic products and head of cosmetic studies and worked as a research assistant. Sabine Wittig advises on toxicological issues, cosmetic products and all food law topics.


Sabine Wittig studied food chemistry at the University of Hamburg from 2008 to 2013. She completed her studies with a diploma thesis in the field of food microbiology. The training to become a state-certified food chemist included a six-month internship in a commercial laboratory, as well as six months at „Amt für Umwelt und Hygiene Hamburg“. After working for two years as a safety assessor for cosmetic products and as a lead for cosmetic studies, she returned to the university. From 2016 to 2020, she worked at the University of Halle as a research associate, focusing on structural mass spectrometry. She was involved in the publication of several papers and presented her results at international conferences. Since 2020, Sabine Wittig has been with the RDA. In the team, her focus is on toxicological assessment, questions concerning cosmetic products, as well as general food law issues.
